Founded in 1984, General Biologicals Corporation (GBC) is a Taiwan-based diagnostics company with more than four decades of experience in IVD research, development and manufacturing.

Leadership
Frank Lin brings experience in the technology industry, international markets and corporate management, including entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley and senior management roles in technology companies. As President and Director of GBC, he oversees operations, global markets and growth strategy, driving the company’s expansion from traditional IVD into CLIA, molecular diagnostics, liquid biopsy and clinical applications. He also serves as Chairman of GB Pharma.

Leo Liu brings more than 20 years of experience in clinical laboratory testing, immunoassays, quality management and the IVD industry. His career spans hospital laboratories, CurieMed and multiple management roles at GBC. He currently leads R&D and related operations, combining clinical laboratory and product development experience to advance diagnostic technologies and commercialization.
Wally Fan brings extensive international commercial experience in the IVD and life sciences industries. He previously held commercial leadership roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Northeast Asia and served as Asia Pacific Sales Director at DYNEX Technologies. He currently leads GBC’s international sales and global market development.

History
General Biologicals Corporation Founded
Founded in 1984 as part of Taiwan’s national hepatitis prevention initiative, GBC began with the development and manufacturing of hepatitis diagnostic assays, marking the start of more than four decades in in vitro diagnostics.
First Hepatitis Diagnostic Products Launched
GBC launched hepatitis diagnostic assays based on radioimmunoassay (RIA), establishing its early foundation in immunodiagnostics.
ELISA Immunodiagnostics Platform Established
GBC expanded into enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technology and introduced hepatitis assays including HBsAg and Anti-HCV, supporting the company’s expansion into international markets.
Expansion into Clinical Laboratory Services
GBC established CurieMed, extending its diagnostic capabilities into clinical laboratory services and building a broader connection between diagnostic products and clinical applications.
GMP Certification
GBC established a quality management foundation aligned with medical product manufacturing requirements.
Listed on Taiwan’s Emerging Stock Market
GBC shares began trading on Taiwan’s Emerging Stock Market under stock code 4117.
ISO 13485 Certification
GBC further aligned its quality management system with international medical device standards.
Expansion into Molecular Diagnostics
GBC developed a Real-Time PCR assay for quantitative detection of hepatitis B virus, establishing the foundation for its molecular diagnostics portfolio.
Expansion of Diagnostic Manufacturing
GBC established a manufacturing site at the Southern Taiwan Science Park, strengthening its diagnostic product manufacturing capabilities.
BioFibroScore® Liver Fibrosis Technology
In collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), GBC developed BioFibroScore®, a non-invasive technology for liver fibrosis assessment.
30th Anniversary and Expansion into Healthcare Innovation
Building on 30 years of IVD expertise, GBC expanded into healthcare innovation through P113 antimicrobial peptide technology.
Expansion of U.S. Clinical Laboratory Services
GBC acquired Danner Laboratory in San Diego, California, expanding its clinical laboratory services and diagnostic capabilities in the United States.
P113 Technology Expands into Health Products
P113 received an International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredient (INCI) designation and was subsequently applied to health products under the oh care brand.
China Subsidiary Established
GBC established Dongguan Pucheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. in China, strengthening its local operations and market presence in China and Asia.
CellBio™ CTC Liquid Biopsy Platform Launched
GBC introduced the CellBio™ circulating tumor cell (CTC) platform, expanding into precision oncology and liquid biopsy and establishing the foundation for subsequent applications and platform development.
Rapid Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
GBC rapidly developed molecular, antigen and antibody-based COVID-19 diagnostic products, demonstrating integrated capabilities across R&D, manufacturing and international supply.
Expansion of Clinical Laboratory Operations in Canada
GBC established a clinical laboratory in Vancouver, Canada, expanding its North American clinical service presence and supporting the continued development and market application of CellBio™ CTC technology.
CellBio™ Applications Continue to Expand
CellBio™ continued to advance in real-world applications, with approximately 3,000 tests performed during the year, building experience in liquid biopsy and cellular analysis.
Dedicated Healthcare Innovation Business Established
GBC transferred its P113-related business to its wholly owned subsidiary, GBP, creating a dedicated platform for antimicrobial peptide, drug development and health product businesses.
AIO M160 Automated Molecular Diagnostics Platform Launched
GBC introduced the AIO M160, integrating molecular diagnostic assays with automated testing technology and advancing molecular diagnostics from standalone assays toward automated workflows.
Expansion of CLIA and Automated Diagnostics
Building on the CL i120 chemiluminescence immunoassay system, GBC continued expanding its CLIA platform and assay menu, advancing immunodiagnostics toward greater automation and efficiency.
New Zhubei Operations Base Opens
GBC completed its new operations base at the Hsinchu County International AI Smart Park, expanding capacity for R&D, operations and medical technology development.
CL i120 Achieves EU IVDR Certification
The GBC CL i120 chemiluminescence immunoassay system completed EU IVDR regulatory certification, supporting the international expansion of GBC’s next-generation CLIA platform.
